Review of the 2012 Dodge Charger

2012 Charger
Introduction
The sporty full-size 2012 Dodge Charger sedan comes with a fresh styling, better interior materials, an all-new and more powerful 3.6-liter V6 powertrain, a retuned suspension, electric-assist power steering, more standard features and a new electronic interface. The high-performance SRT8 model is discontinued. The Charger is available in SE (RWD only) and R/T (RWD and AWD).
Exterior Design and Special Features
The entry level SE models are well equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels and automatic headlights. The interior features cloth seats, air conditioning, cruise control, full power accessory set, a trip computer and a six-speaker audio system with a CD player. The iPod interface, keyless ignition/entry, remote engine start and a 4.3-inch touch screen interface are other highlights. The R/T model features 18-inch alloy wheels (19-inch on AWD models), xenon headlights, fog lights and a rear spoiler (RWD models only). Automatic dual-zone climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, Bluetooth and a premium Alpine sound system with an 8.4-inch touch screen, voice control and satellite radio are the prominent interior features. The front seats are heated.
The list of optional features includes 18-, 19- and 20-inch wheels, adaptive cruise control with front collision warning, blind spot warning system, a Garmin-sourced navigation system with Sirius Travel Link service, and a nine-speaker Alpine surround-sound audio system. A Super Track Pack with high-performance brakes, suspension components and tires, a rear back-up camera, rear park assist and a sunroof is optional.
Engine
Two uncompromised, high-performance engines of the 2012 Dodge Charger deliver world-class power, refinement, technology and fuel efficiency. The SE models are now powered by an all-new 3.6-liter V6 rated at 292 hp and 260 pound-feet of torque while R/T versions receive a 5.7-liter V-8 good for 370 hp and 395 lb-ft. A five-speed automatic transmission with a manual shift which sends power to the rear wheels is standard. All-wheel drive is available on the R/T. The all-new 2012 Dodge Charger R/T AWD model features a segment-exclusive active transfer case and front-axle disconnect system to improve fuel economy by up to 5 percent.
Safety
The all-new 2012 Dodge Charger includes more than 65 safety and security features comprising standard Keyless Enter-N-Go and electronic stability control (ESC) with segment-exclusive Ready Alert Braking and Rain Brake Support safety features to improve overall vehicle handling and performance both on and off the track. Adaptive-cruise control (ACC) with Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Blind-spot Monitoring (BSM) with Rear Cross Path (RCP) detection and ParkView rear backup camera have been included for the first time. The other features are standard front-row reactive head restraints, standard full-length side-curtain air bags, driver's knee bag and standard front seat-mounted side-thorax air bags.
