2012 Fit
Introduction
The 2012 Fit is a 4-door, 5-passenger family sedan or sports sedan, available in mainly in Base Fit and Fit Sport trims with manual and automatic transmissions. Customers receive a tremendous value from the Fit without sacrificing function or design. It offers a long list of standard feature content and performance while still maintaining a high level of affordability. The Fit has secured a number of awards including the prestigious Car and Driver Magazine's 2009 "10 Best" list and Kelly Blue Book's "Top 10 Green Car" and "Coolest New Cars Under $18,000" awards.
Exterior Design and Special Features
The 2012 Honda Fit models include Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) as standard equipment, more comfort and convenience features. The base Fit model now comes with cruise control, remote entry, a USB audio interface and VSA. The Fit Sport (non-navigation) also gets VSA for 2012, along with carpeted floor mats. The Fit Sport with Navigation (previously equipped with VSA as standard equipment) receives carpeted floor mats as standard equipment. Four new colors are available.
Though compact on the outside, the 2012 Honda Fit's spacious interior features high levels of refinement. The exclusive 60/40 split rear Magic Seat offers multiple seating and cargo-carrying configurations - tall object mode, long object mode and utility mode - in addition to the standard five-passenger mode. The standard amenities include air conditioning, an AM/FM/CD audio system with four speakers, MP3/WMA playback capability, Radio Data System (RDS), auxiliary audio input jack, power windows, power mirrors and power door locks. The Fit Sport adds alloy wheels, an underbody aero kit, rear roofline spoiler, fog lights, security system with keyless remote entry and cruise control. The Fit Sport audio system has six speakers, a five-mode equalizer and a USB Audio Interface. It is also available with the Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System with Voice Recognition, featuring a 6.5-inch screen and more than 7 million points of interest.
Engine
The 2012 Honda Fit's 1.5-liter, i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine pumps out 117 horsepower at 6,600 rpm and 106 lb-ft. of torque at 4,800 rpm. A 5-speed manual transmission is standard and a 5-speed automatic transmission is available. Steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters on Fit Sport models equipped with the available automatic transmission allow for manual gear selection. The cargo capacity stands at 20.6 cubic feet. The rear Magic Seat provides convenient one-motion dive-down functionality and can fold flat into the floor to create a rear cargo volume of 57.3 cubic feet.
The 2012 Honda Fit returns with an impressive fuel efficiency of 27 city / 33 highway / 29* combined for Fit with automatic transmission.
Safety
Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure and the standard anti-lock brakes are main key safety features. The other standard features on all Fit models include dual-stage, multiple-threshold front airbags, dual front-side airbags with passenger-side Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS) and side-curtain airbags.
