2012 Rio5
Introduction
Kia's version of a sporty European hatchback, the Rio5 is related to its Rio sedan. The 2012 Kia Rio5 hatchback competes with Chevrolet Aveo5, Honda Fit and Toyota Yaris in the market. The Rio5 comes in LX and sporty SX trim levels.
Exterior Design and Special Features
The standard exterior and interior features include body color bumpers and door handles, clear-lens black bezel headlights, AM/FM/CD/MP3 SIRIUS audio system with four speakers, USB/auxiliary input jack, air conditioning, EcoMinder indicator, tilt steering column, tinted glass, driver's seat height adjuster and seat fold-down armrest.
The LX comes with full cloth seat trim. The SX is equipped with unique sport cloth seats, leather wrapped steering wheel/shift knob, Bluetooth wireless technology, power windows with driver's one-touch auto-down feature, power door locks and tweeter speakers.
Engine
The Rio5 is powered by a four-cylinder engine rated at 110-horsepower and 107 pounds-feet of torque. An electronically controlled 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard on both trims. The EPA estimated fuel economy stands at 27/35 mpg city/highway.
Safety
The active safety features of the Rio5 are designed to avoid accidents and the passive features minimize injuries. The key safety features include dual front advanced airbags, front seat mounted side airbags, full length curtain airbags, front active headrests, three-point seatbelts for all seats, 4-wheel antilock brakes and LATCH.
