Review of the 2012 Nissan GT-R

2012 GT-R
Introduction
The GT-R, now in its third year in US, enters into the 2012 model year with a number of enhancements and a simplified model lineup. The 2012 Nissan GT-R is available in a single well equipped Premium model. Auto on/off headlights, speed-sensitive windshield wipers, a USB iPod interface, streaming Audio via Bluetooth and DVD playback are now standard. The navigation system now includes XM NavTraffic and NavWeather capability, along with premium points-of-interest (POI) information.
The other enhancements include slightly darker wheel center caps, double clear coat on the front and rear fascias and the addition of rear cooling ducts to improve cooling performance around the rear floor area. The suspension has been returned and the rear bushing strengthened to enhance ride comfort.
Exterior Design and Special Features
The 2012 Nissan GT-R is available in one model - GT-R Premium which comes fully equipped with 20-inch alloy wheels, super-wide-illumination High Intensity Discharge (HID) xenon headlights, LED taillights and brake lights, UV-reducing solar glass, Nissan Intelligent Key with Push Button Ignition, dual zone automatic temperature control ,power windows, power door locks, cruise control with leather wrapped steering wheel-mounted controls, leather wrapped gearshift knob, leather-appointed seats including an eight-way power driver's seat and four--way power front passenger's seat with entry/exit switch for rear passenger, Nissan Navigation System, custom-designed 11-speaker Bose audio system, premium near-black finish wheels, Bridgestone RE070A tires and heated front seats.
Engine
The 2012 Nissan GT-R is powered a twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V6 engine that generates 530 hp and 488 lb-ft of torque. Power output rises to 530 horsepower (45 hp more than last year) and 488 pound-feet of torque (up from 434) thanks to the combination of revised turbo boost and more free-flowing intake and exhaust systems. A six-speed dual-clutch automated manual transmission routes this power to the ground via an advanced AWD system. The already awesome brakes also have been enlarged slightly to better deal with the added performance potential.
Safety
The 2012 Nissan GT-R offers standard safety features such as Nissan Advanced Air Bag system, supplemental side-impact air bags, LEATCH, 4-wheel anti-lock braking system, Nissan Vehicle Immobilizer System and Vehicle Security System.
