Engine
On regular fuel, the Edge's 3.5-liter V6 engine produces 285 horsepower and 253 ft.-lb. of torque while the Edge Sport?s 3.7-liter Twin-independent Variable Cam Timing (TiVCT) V6 engine delivers 305 horsepower and 280 ft.-lb. of torque. Both engines are teamed with a six-speed automatic transmission. The SelectShift Automatic transmission is standard on the Edge SEL and Limited series, with class-exclusive paddle activation of the SelectShift standard on the Edge Sport. A new 2.0-liter EcoBoost I-4 engine is mated to a six-speed transmission delivers 15 percent fuel economy improvements over the current 3.5-liter V-6 engine offering the performance feel of a six-cylinder.

Safety
The 2013 Ford Edge is equipped with a lot of modern safety features. The Hill Start reduces rollback on hills and the Trailer Sway Control for greater towing stability when equipped for trailer tow. The standard safety features includes AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control (RSC), anti-lock brakes, dual-stage front airbags in the Personal Safety System and seat-mounted side airbags for the driver and front passenger and the Safety Canopy side curtain airbags for outboard-seated passengers in both rows.
